ADVENT
RETREAT
Our
lives are an Advent – a time of waiting, listening and hoping, a time of
openness to the unimaginable gift of God. Pause in quiet reflection
these days and listen to the winter within. Prepare for God’s gift
to us in the Incarnation.

YOGA AND THE
ART OF RELAXATION
Come rest, relax, rejuvenate, and have FUN through the exploration of
yoga, and experience yoga nidra (the
art of deep relaxation). The heart
of yogic teachings lies in the belief that a self-fulfilled person is a healthy
person, free from dis-ease caused by stress and improper living habits. The practice of yoga is designed to lead
the person to an ever-increasing knowledge of herself/himself and the needs of
her/his body and mind in order to achieve and maintain good physical and mental
health and spiritual harmony.
Relaxation is a skill that is vital to life in the 21st Century. We will utilize periods of silence to discover and listen to that deeper voice inside. We will also experience the connection of the mind, body, heart and spirit. This workshop is for the new and curious about yoga to the experienced yogis and yoginis. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and bring a journal and a mat or beach towel.

LENTEN RETREAT: RECLAIMING SPIRITUAL WISDOM
During these times of financial worry, global anxiety and fear, we can lose ourselves in alienation or fear. Paradoxically, during this Lenten season we can reclaim a proper rhythm to life including feasting and fasting, work and Sabbath, charity and justice. This weekend will invite us to transform these hard times into spiritual awakening.

ART-JOURNALING: A WAY OF PRAYER AND A HOLISTIC JOURNALING TOOL
This weekend will combine led journaling experiences with times for silence and community, in the beauty of the Linwood landscape. We will engage in prayerful journaling using a process that combines simple art materials and writing within a meditative context. Emphasis will be on the practice of contemplative gazing, with its potential to deepen our appreciation of God’s unique creation – ourselves included! Optional gentle stretching exercises will help focus the embodiment of this holistic process. Ways of noticing the present moment, and ways to continue the journaling process will be presented. No art experience needed for this non-verbal/verbal approach.
Please bring a journal. Other materials will be provided.
